Pharmacist

Our pharmacists work with and alongside the GPS within the PCN and take responsibility to clinically assess and treat patients using expert knowledge of medicines. All Pharmacists are qualified Prescribers.

Through structured medication reviews, clinical pharmacists will support patients to get the best from their medications, reduce waste and promote self-care.

eRD Information

If you are already receiving, or have agreed to receive, electronic prescriptions and you get regular or repeat medicines that do not change, your GP may have moved you on to electronic Repeat Dispensing (eRD). This means your GP can send your regular or repeat prescriptions electronically to a pharmacy of your choice. You can then collect your medication from your pharmacy,or ask them to deliver it to your home.

What eRD means for you

eRD allows your GP to send a series of repeat prescriptions to your pharmacy in one go, so there’s no need for you to order them each time. It’s reliable, secure and confidential. Your regular prescriptions are stored securely on the NHS database, so they’ll be ready at the pharmacy each time you need them.

How eRD can benefit you

If you get regular or repeat medicines, you might be suitable for eRD. Using eRD,
you can:

  • save time by avoiding unnecessary trips or calls to your GP every time you need to order a repeat prescription
  • order or cancel your repeat prescriptions online (if your GP practice offers this service)
  • pick up your repeat prescriptions directly from your pharmacy without having to visit your GP
  • spend less time waiting for your prescription in the pharmacy or GP practice, which means you can stay at home and avoid face-to-face contact when you need your repeat prescription during the coronavirus pandemic
  • save paper – you won’t need a paper prescription to collect your medicine from the pharmacy

How do I sign up for eRD?

It’s easy to sign up for eRD – just ask your GP or pharmacist for more information

Attention – All Patients and Customers

As of the 1 st April 2024 Forest Medical Services Ltd – Representing both Chase and Headley Pharmacies have made the business decision to no longer offer the management of prescriptions.

ALL requests will now need to be managed via your surgery using the NHS App, Repeat Slips or any other avenue accepted by your individual surgeries. This will be the patients/patients’ representative’s responsibility and neither Pharmacy will accept responsibility for medications that have not been ordered thus not supplied. This means we will no longer accept Telephone requests or written/verbal requests. Our Telephone lines will also inform you of this change.

We understand the impact this may have on some of our patients and ask that you respect our staff during this transition. Once again this is a decision made by the Business and not the individuals you see daily.

Please remember we do not tolerate any form of abuse towards our staff members who work tirelessly to keep the community of Bordon and Headley fit and healthy and action can be taken to remove you from our services.

If you are unable to manage your own medications, there are other options available to you including other pharmacies who will continue to manage prescriptions for patients. The most notable being Pharmacy2U.

If you have any concerns or queries regarding this they can be put in writing for the attention of Jamie Biggs – Pharmacy Business and Operations Manager – Forest Medical Services Ltd

How to Find Your NHS Number

Prescriptions and Chemists

If you take medicine regularly, you’ll usually have a repeat prescription. This means you can order your medicine when you need it without having to see a GP until your next medicine review. You might be able to ask your pharmacy for your medicine if your GP has set this up (repeat dispensing). If not, you’ll need to order your medicines from your GP surgery each time. There are 3 ways to order a repeat prescription from your GP surgery.

  1. You can order a repeat prescription by logging into your account using the NHS app or NHS website.
  2. Using other online services or apps – Pilltime is just one
  3. By speaking to your GP surgery – You do not need to see a GP to order a repeat prescription. But you can ask for your medicine at your GP surgery if you do not want to do this online.

Cheaper prescriptions

1. Get a prescription prepayment certificate

You can buy prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) from the NHS which may make your prescriptions cheaper.

You can only get a PPC if you live in England.

There’s a different way to get a PPC if you’ve been prescribed hormone replacement therapy.

What you’ll get

A 3 or 12 month PPC covers all your prescriptions for that period, no matter how many you need.
A prescription costs £9.65 per item, but a PPC costs:

  • £31.25 for 3 months
  • £111.60 for 12 months

This means if you’re going to buy 4 or more prescriptions in 3 months, or 12 or more prescriptions in 12 months, it may be cheaper to buy a PPC.

You can pay in 10 monthly instalments if you buy a 12 month PPC.

How to buy

You can buy PPCs online or call the order line and pay by debit or credit card.

2. If you’ve been prescribed hormone replacement therapy (HRT)

You can get an HRT prescription prepayment certificate (HRT PPC) from the NHS if you’ve been prescribed
an eligible hormone replacement therapy (HRT) medicine.

What you’ll get

The HRT PPC costs £19.30 for 12 months.

It will cover all your eligible HRT prescriptions for that period, no matter how many different medicines you need. There’s no limit on the number of HRT prescription items you can get with it while it’s valid.

You’ll save money if you’re going to buy more than 2 prescription items in 12 months.

If you have prescriptions for medicines that are not eligible

If you have other prescriptions that are not for eligible HRT medicines, you may save more with a 3 or 12 month standard PPC.

A standard PPC will save you more than an HRT PPC if you get:

  • 4 or more items in a 3 month period and at least 2 are not for eligible HRT medication
  • 12 or more items in 12 month period and at least 10 are not for eligible HRT medication

How to buy

You can buy HRT PPCs online.
